Army Vet Tulsi Gabbard Ends Long-Shot 2020 Bid, Throws Support to Biden

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard suspended her presidential campaign on Thursday, ending a long-shot effort that saw her feuding with Hillary Clinton and raising fears among Democrats that she would mount a third-party 2020 bid. In an email and a video posted to Twitter, Gabbard offered her full support to former Vice President Joe Biden, saying “it’s clear that Democratic primary voters have chosen” him to take on President Donald Trump in November. Noting their political differences, Gabbard said she respected Biden and had confidence in the motivations of his campaign effort. “Although I may not agree with ... Read more

Tulsi Gabbard Exits Presidential Race, Backs Joe Biden

Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced she is ending her longshot White House bid Thursday and throwing her support behind former Vice President Joe Biden. “After Tuesday’s election, it’s clear that Democratic primary voters have chosen Vice President Joe Biden to be the person who will take on President Trump in the general election,” Gabbard said in a video posted on Twitter. “So today, I am suspending my presidential campaign and offering my full support to Vice President Joe Biden in his quest to bring our country together.” Important announcement. Tulsi Gabbard suspends presidential campaign, endorses Biden

Tulsi Gabbard announced Thursday that she will suspend her 2020 Democratic presidential campaign and endorsed Joe Biden. The state of play: While she was one of the final three candidates left in the race, alongside Biden and Bernie Sanders, the Hawaii congresswoman failed to gain traction in any primary and hadn’t qualified for a debate since last year. She did pick up two delegates in the caucuses in American Samoa, where she was born. What she’s saying: “I know Vice President Biden and his wife and am grateful to have called his son Beau, who also served in the National Guard, a ... Read more

Tulsi Gabbard drops out of 2020 presidential election

Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s longshot presidential bid is over. Gabbard’s decision to drop out, announced March 19, was long in the works. She had consistently averaged around 1 to 2 percent in national polls and performed poorly in primaries; her candidacy largely served as a single-issue protest run against American military adventurism rather than a serious bid for the presidency. Her most notable moment, a devastating attack on California Sen. Kamala Harris’s record as a prosecutor in the CNN’s July debate, didn’t move the dial much in her favor. So on Thursday, she dropped out an endorsed Joe Biden for ... Read more

The DNC Debate Rule Change That Finished Off Tulsi Shows Why They Can Never Be Trusted

When American Samoa came up after Super Tuesday, it usually had to do with it being the epitaph on Michael Bloomberg’s $500 million night of futility. After spending half a billion dollars on an idiosyncratic bid to inundate America with advertisements and start his campaign on Super Tuesday, Bloomberg didn’t even reach the delegate threshold in plenty of the states he spent grotesque amounts of money in. He did, though, score one win — American Samoa. However, there was another curiosity about the American overseas territory: It also gave Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard a delegate, her first. This, in and ... Read more

DNC To Keep Tulsi Gabbard Off Debate Stage After Winning A Delegate

2020 Democratic presidential candidate and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard officially met the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) debate requirements after securing a delegate in the Super Tuesday contests. Gabbard won a delegate in American Samoa, the U.S. territory that is also Gabbard’s birthplace. While the DNC has yet to release the requirements for candidates to land a podium on stage for the next debate, major contenders for the party’s nomination could earn their spot in prior debates by capturing at least one delegate in any of this year’s past contests, including Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. After it became clear Gabbard ... Read more
