Hezbollah observes anti-tunnel sensor installation at the Israeli border

Hezbollah observes anti-tunnel sensors being installed at the Israel/Lebanon border From the Lebanese side of the border, equipment can be seen in Israel drilling into the earth. The type of work being done is out of the ordinary for what usually occurs on the Israeli side of the border. Central Media, a publisher for Hezbollah, stated on Tuesday; “At 10:30 this morning, Tuesday 21-01-2020, the Israeli enemy, through a civilian company, began the drilling work at the border numbering 410 opposite the town of al Adaisah in southern Lebanon, amid a modest presence of military forces of the Israeli army.” ... The Iran nuclear deal is dead, and Israel again faces a ticking clock

Following the killing of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Iran said it would no longer refrain from the production of enriched uranium as proscribed in the nuclear agreement it signed with world powers. And Israel, which opposed the deal, once again faces the prospect of its arch enemy being as little as six to 10 months away from having enough fuel to create its first nuclear device. For all of its flaws, experts say, the agreement would have brought Israel – and the rest of the world – a hiatus of about 10 years from confronting the prospect of a nuclear ... Read more

Israel hails ‘breakthrough’ towards laser air defence system

The Israeli defence ministry has hailed a “breakthrough” in the development of cheaper laser-based air defences, as tensions soar in the region after Iran hit US targets in retaliation for a high-profile assassination. The lasers, still under development, would be capable of intercepting “everything” fired at Israel, including long and medium range missiles, rockets, mortar rounds and drones, an official told AFP on Thursday, asking not to be identified. The new technology, which Israel hopes to test later this year, uses electricity to power the lasers, doing away with the need for stocks of munitions, the official said. The lasers ... Read more

Israel Announces New ‘Laser Sword’ Breakthrough Designed To Shred Enemy Weapons

It’s difficult to find geopolitical news these days that gives your average conservative an unalloyed warm, fuzzy feeling. Sure, impeachment is backfiring like a worn moped on Democrats, but we still have to deal with the ridiculous specter of impeachment in the first place. The fact that terrorist Qassem Soleimani was (as John Cena might say) compromised to a permanent end was somewhat soured by the fact that Iran, in its ineffectual response to the attack, shot down a Ukrainian airliner. There’s tumult within the royal family and continuing unrest in Hong Kong. Where’s the good news there? Well, fear ... Read more

How Israel Views Trump’s Strike Against Iran

In the United States, early analyses of the Trump Administration’s assassination of General Qassem Suleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, tended to come with corresponding analyses of Iran’s array of choices for armed retaliation—attacks on shipping in the Persian Gulf, Saudi oil assets, Iraqi political targets, Israel, various diplomatic missions—suggesting that such a response is inevitable, and wondering, ominously, where it will come. By inference, the rationale for Donald Trump’s bolt-from-the-blue action will be justified, or not, by its consequences and their consequences. As General David Petraeus told Foreign Policy, “It is impossible to overstate the importance of this ... Read more
