They cause deep-rooted anxiety and terrorizing fears of the unknown to bubble straight to the surface.  With tensions rising in the Middle East, military spouses are on the edges of our seats waiting for answers. Hannah Brown Is Everything Wrong With Feminism

Hannah Brown is free to make all the bad choices she wants, but a truly empowered woman would own the outcomes, not make others bear the consequences. Hannah Brown is the worst kind of girl, and she reminded Bachelor Nation of that fact over and over Monday night during the season 24 premiere of “The Bachelor.” Just when you thought first-impression-rose recipient and southern-belle model Hannah Ann Sluss had earned that honor with her next-level pettiness, Alabama Hannah Brown swooped in to remind viewers that, nope, she’s still the worst. Hannah Brown’s rise to mirror-ball status as the most recent ... Read more

AUMF: Authorizing Unnecessary Military Force – Micheal Brown

Old Map of AUMF Authorizations Written in September 2019 The politically savvy “War on Terror” began as politicians sought to avoid appearing soft on terrorism following Dukakis’ defeat to Bush due to Dukakis being soft during the “War on Crime.” The Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), which gave power to the president to “use all necessary and appropriate force” against the groups associated with 9/11 (i.e. Al-Qaeda), is only 337 words.¹ The resolution passed the Senate with a 92–0 vote and the House with a 420–1 vote, with Rep. Barbara Lee (D- CA) as the only member of ... Read more

Best of 2019: Marcia Brown

My first story for the Prospect was about an obscure bilateral agreement between the U.S. and Canada called a safe third country agreement. It requires asylum seekers to file for asylum in the first safe country they reach. But a so-called loophole in the agreement encouraged asylum seekers to cross irregularly – in between official points of entry. Before President Trump was elected, so few asylum seekers crossed irregularly that Canada did not keep data. Since 2017, that number has topped 40,000: An Imperiled Border Agreement Could Doom Canada’s Welcoming Immigration Policy These agreements became the Trump administration’s tool of choice in ... Should We Care How Our Employees Feel? – Chad Q Brown

(Rebecca S. Gratz from The World-Herald) In our previous article about psychological safety, we talked about the Google study that deemed psychological safety as the number one factor in building an effective team, but the caveats of this statement are that 1. not every team works in the same universal environment and, perhaps a bit more obvious 2. not every team is working under the same parameters and conditions as Google teams do. In thinking in the line of more militant and fast-paced corporate and athletic arenas, the questions then become the following: Why do I even need to care? ... Read more
