President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, along with the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, watch an F-35 fighter-jet flyby at the White House on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he doesn’t have a deadline for imposing extra tariffs on Chinese goods, as he announced an agreement for U.S. troops to be sent to Poland.

CHINA DEAL

Speaking alongside Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, Trump was asked about a deadline for putting 25% tariffs on those Chinese goods not yet subject to levies.

Saying he didn’t have one, Trump added, “my deadline is what’s up here,” pointing to his head. “Nobody can quite figure it out.” But he did say he had “a feeling” a deal could be reached.

Trump has said previously he’d decide on China tariffs after meeting President Xi Jinping at the June 28-29 G-20 summit in Osaka, Japan. U.S. stocks

TROOPS TO POLAND

At a joint news conference, Trump said the U.S. would send at least 1,000 troops to Poland from another location. Duda believes an enhanced U.S. military presence in Poland will help deter Russia’s influence in the region. Trump said the Polish government would pay to support the troops.

EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE

Also Wednesday, Trump invoked executive privilege over documents related to the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

The move came ahead of a vote in the House Oversight Committee about whether to hold Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt of Congress, over a census-related dispute and for not complying with subpoenas issued by the committee.
