Special operations maintainer charged with pulling shotgun on pregnant woman
Local news station WEAR reported Wednesday that according to an arrest report, the Hurlburt airman, Ty Reid Gilbert, hit the unidentified woman from behind in Fort Walton Beach in January and drove away. The alleged victim followed him to a home, WEAR said, where a dispute broke out. The report said Reid entered the home, brought out a shotgun, and pointed it at the woman, the station said.
Staff Sgt. Victor Caputo, a spokesman for the 1st SOW, said Gilbert is an E-2 aerospace ground equipment journeyman with the 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron. Gilbert has been at Hurlburt for about a year and a half, Caputo said. He did not have any information on whether Caputo has been suspended.
The website of the Okaloosa County Department of Corrections in Florida said Gilbert was arrested on Monday, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill, and released on $5,000 bond.
