The special Puerto Rico taping of The Tonight Show will be held during a 24-show run of the hit Broadway play, all of which will raise money for relief funds in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Manuel-Miranda will also be a guest during the January 15 taping, which will also feature an exclusive performance of the musical’s new touring cast with Manuel-Miranda reprising his lead role.
The special run of Hamilton will go from January 8-27 at the University of Puerto Rico to raise money for the Flamboyan Arts Fund to benefit the arts, artists and arts institutions in the recovery.
Manuel-Miranda initially left Hamilton in July of 2016 to focus on a multitude of other projects. Since he left his musical sensation, he’s landed a starring role in Mary Poppins Returns, voiced Gizmoduck on the Duck Tales reboot, and is developing an animated feature for Sony, just to name a few of his current creative endeavors.
