James Comey confirms ordering a 2016 investigation into Rudy Giuliani and Clinton-related FBI leaks

Many have speculated that former FBI Director James Comey’s ill-advised release of the non-issue Weiner/Abedine emails—the ones that implicated a secondary investigation into Hillary Clinton’s personal emails right before election day—were the result of rogue FBI factions who were leaking information to the public, subverting Comey’s authority. Since then, it has become clear that Rudolph Giuliani, who seemed to know all kinds of things about what the FBI was and was not doing in regards to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was getting confidential information—real or fake—from someone or someones in the FBI. As the Daily Beast reported in the fall of 2016, there was no shortage of former FBI heads of New York suspects.

Back in August, during a contentious CNN interview about Comey’s July announcement clearing Hillary Clinton of criminal charges, Giuliani advertised his illicit FBI sources, who circumvented bureau guidelines to discuss a case with a public partisan. “The decision perplexes me. It perplexes Jim Kallstrom, who worked for him. It perplexes numerous FBI agents who talk to me all the time. And it embarrasses some FBI agents.”

Kallstrom is the former head of the New York FBI office, installed in that post in the ’90s by then-FBI director Louis Freeh, one of Giuliani’s longtime friends. Kallstrom has, like Giuliani, been on an anti-Comey romp for months, most often on Fox, where he’s called the Clintons as a “crime family.” He has been invoking unnamed FBI agents who contact him to complain about Comey’s exoneration of Clinton in one interview after another, positioning himself as an apolitical champion of FBI values.

Rep. Devin Nunes, a man who has left this plane of reality, admitted as much on television.

When you consider that one of the most decorated FBI agents in history, Peter Strzok, was fired this summer over “anti-Trump texts,” it is hard to see how an investigation into who and what rogue elements are trying to influence presidential elections does not result in at least one firing, and possible charges. The non-profit watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a lawsuit demanding the FBI release any pertinent investigatory materials it has on the Giuliani-leak matter.

Trump’s victory, and the subsequent ascension of vile east coast misanthropes like Giuliani to national power was almost analogous to finding out that Santa Claus, Hanukah Harry, the baby Jesus, and Micky Mantle were all the same person and that person’s name was the devil. Giuliani ending up with a prison term, or at the very least a conviction, for one of his many heinous crimes would save the Christmas right wingers are so fond of evoking.
