– Rembrandt Harmensz. Van Rijn (1606 – 1669): Jan Lutma, Goldsmith. Etching with engraving and drypoint, 1656, on laid paper, with an unidentified watermark fragment, a good impression of New Hollstein’s second/ third state (of five), beginning to show some wear but printing with good contrasts. Plate 196 x 148 mm, Sheet 205 x 158 mm. Estimate: GBP 5,000 – GBP 7,000 (6,394 – 8,952)

Albrecht Durer (1471-1528): The Virgin and Child crowned by one Angel. Engraving, 1520, on laid paper, watermark Small Jug (M. 158), a very good Meder I a-b impression printing with plate tone at lower right. Plate 136 x 97 mm. Sheet 146 x 107 mm. Estimate: GBP 5,000 – GBP 7,000 (6,394 – 8,952)

Abraham Rutgers (1632-1699): A river view with a figure looking out over a wall, houses and windmills beyond. Traces of black and red chalk, pen and brown ink, fragmentary watermark, brown ink framing lines. 4⅜ x 8⅛ in. (11.3 x 20.8 cm.) Estimate: GBP 5,000 – GBP 7,000

– Giuseppe Scolari (Active 1550-1600): Saint George and the Dragon. Woodcut, circa 1600, on laid paper, watermark Strasbourg Lily and Bend, a good, richly inked impression of this uncommon print, the third, final state, printing with much gaufrage on the reverse. Sheet 507 x 355 mm. Estimate: GBP 4,000 – GBP 6,000 ($5,115 – 7,673)

– Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, IL Guercino (1591-1666): Study of a putto holding a palm branch with inscription ‘Di Francesco Barbieri detto il Guercino/ da Cento’ (on the mount). Pen and brown ink, 8⅛ x 6¾ in. (20.6 x 17 cm.) Estimate: GBP 4,000 – GBP 6,000 ($5,115 – 7,673)

– Rembrandt Harmensz. Van Rijn (1606-1669): The Card Player. Etching, 1641, on laid paper, without watermark, a good impression of the first state (of five), printing with the accidental scratch. Plate 92 x 82 mm. Sheet 93 x 84 mm. Estimate: GBP 4,000 – GBP 6,000 ($5,115 – 7,673)

– Rembrandt Harmensz.Van Rijn (1606-1669): Self-Portrait with Saskia. Etching, 1634, on laid paper, without watermark, a good impression of the third state (of four), showing some wear in the densely hatched areas. Plate 106 x 95 mm. Sheet 113 x 10 mm. Giorgio Ghisi (1520-1582) After Giovanni Battista Bertani (1516-1576): The Vision of Ezekiel. Engraving, 1554, on laid paper, watermark Eagle in a Circle with a Crown (similar to Briquet 209, dated Verona 1582-96), a good impression of this large and important print, fifth state (of six); with Giorgio Ghisi (1520-1582) after Polidoro da Caravaggio (circa 1499 – circa 1543), Caius Marius in Prison, engraving, circa 1560-69, on laid paper, without watermark, a fine, rich impression of the first state (of three).
