He Duoling Solo ‘The Art Of Determination’ at Poly Gallery, Hong Kong

Poly Gallery, Hong Kong, will soon be presenting a solo exhibition by He Duoliing, “The Art Of Determination,” on view from September 27 – October 11, 2018.

“As a pioneer of the Contemporary Chinese Lyrical Realist painters, poetic realism and mystic aesthetics have endued He Duoling’s artworks with elegant melancholy, making him an exceptional talent in the Chinese contemporary art world,” the Gallery website states.

Duoliing’s paintings are collected by the National Art Museum of China, the Fukuoka Art Museum, the Long Museum, the Song Art Museum, and international institutions and collectors around the world. “Inspired by traditional Chinese Ink Painting and praising the perspicuity of formal languages, He Duoling values the polysemous brevity that allows him to work liberally, with unlimited freedom. With a robust and comprehensive competence in aesthetic expression, his paintings, from detail to overview, from portrait to landscape, are full of palpable liveliness…”

Considered a realist artist with exceptional talents, Duoliing focuses on concepts such as existentialism in literature and its philosophic context. His exploration of ontology has assisted him in seeking poetic expression when depicting an image, particularly influencing the youth generation. He Duoling’s artwork expresses various themes during different stages.

The upcoming exhibition will feature 29 oil paintings by Duoliing whose artwork demonstrates various appearances alternately in different periods

Born in Sichuan, Chengdu in 1948, He Duoling graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982 and the engaged in oil painting afterwards. In 1985, he was invited by the Massachusetts College of Art and Design to give lecture.
