Ethan Ambrosh leads St. John’s Prep boys’ soccer past Xaverian

In its first Catholic Conference game of the season, the St. John’s Prep boys’ soccer team set the tone early en route to a 3-1 victory over at Xavierian in Westwood.

“We knew it was going to be physical, but we matched their physicality,” said St. John’s Prep head coach Dave Crowell. “They’re always tough.”

A pair of goals from junior Ethan Ambrosh and a tally by classmate Max Davis gave the Eagles (2-2) a 3-0 lead just 14 minutes in.

“That was big for us,” said Crowell of the early advantage. “Our goal was to score first, which we hadn’t done in our previous games.”
