Trump Whines That Flipping Witnesses Should Be Illegal Because He’s a F*cking Mob Boss

Because Donald Trump is a fucking moron with no capacity to control his mouth, even friendly interviews are disastrous for him. Take, for example, a softball chat he had on Wednesday that aired this morning on his favorite morning ego stroking session, Fox & Friends. During the interview, Trump held his own personal Festivus and aired all of his grievances of the minute, including how much he hates Attorney General Jeff Sessions for not being his own personal hitman.

But he really gave the world a peek inside his worm-riddled brain with the following

Trump sought to put distance between himself and his former lawyer Michael Cohen, who admitted to campaign finance crimes in federal court on Tuesday and implicated the President by saying he’d directed the action.

And he sharply decried those who testify against former confidants to ease legal troubles, bemoaning the longstanding practice.

“It’s called flipping and it almost ought to be illegal,” Trump said in the interview, adding he’s witnessed similar scenarios over his decades in public life. “I know all about flipping, 30, 40 years I have been watching flippers. Everything is wonderful and then they get 10 years in jail and they flip on whoever the next highest one is or as high as you can go.”

Literally the only people who talk like that are criminals. They dress it up in flowery terms like “honor” and “loyalty” but what they’re talking about is being shielded from the police. End of story.

This is what made the disparaging comments of Judge T.S. Ellis in the Paul Manafort case so alarming. There, Judge Ellis complained that Special Counsel Robert Mueller wasn’t interested in Manafort’s crimes at all and was only interested in squeezing him to get to the president. Yes. And? Why was this a problem? This is how law enforcement brings down criminal enterprises and this is how they’ve done it for as long as there’s been cops and robbers. The fact that a Republican judge suddenly found this fundamental tool of law enforcement distasteful and then proceeded to hamper the prosecution’s case with vigor is a bad sign for the nation. One suspects that the fact that Manafort was still found guilty on 8 charges rankles Judge Ellis.

Now that Trump has opened the door, don’t be surprised to see Fox News, AM Hate Radio, right wing hate sites, and even Republicans start to mimic the same talking point. Why, is it even fair to offer criminals a deal to flip on totally innocent people? How can you trust anything they say? It’s coercion! It really should be outlawed and in the meantime, we’ll just have to ignore everything Cohen, Manafort, Flynn, Papadopoulos, and whoever else gets arrested in the coming weeks, says about our man Trump.

In a year or two, Trump will simply replace his NDAs at the White House with a tattoo: Snitches Get Stitches. Because if you’re going to work for a criminal, you might as well go all the way.
