Subway Surfing Idiots Try For Darwin Award: Gothamist

Just to get this straight up front: subway surfing—the act of riding on the outside of the subway, be it on top of a train or clinging to the side of the doors—is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really dumb and deadly. If you are really desperate for an adrenaline rush, try watching Tuck Buckford videos while getting a Red Bull enema. Or get involved in the midterm elections! Or most thrillingly, see if you can get to work on time without rage-sighing in a strangers’ face.

Only dummies, teens, and people who want their obituary on the cover of the NY Post are under the false impression that it would be a fun idea to subway surf. And case in point, we have the stupid teens in the video below, whose faces will probably end up on the cover of the Post when they are arrested next week, because they were stupid enough to include close-ups of themselves. WARNING: you’ll want to mute the sound.

The video appears to have been taken atop an N train in Queens; based on the video cuts, it seems likely that the teens pulled this stunt more than one time. New York City Transit chief Andy Byford previously told Gothamist: “Riding on the outside of a subway car is incredibly dangerous, disruptive, and foolish – it can cause major delays and easily result in death.”

Anyway, if they pull something like this again, they might want to pick a more appropriate soundtrack:
