After the hopelessly convoluted Terminator Genisys failed to reboot the franchise, returning producer James Cameron is once again trying to change up the Terminator series. This time, both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their roles to pass on the torch to a younger generation. Gabriel Luna has been cast to play the new Terminato, and Schwarzenegger has taken the actor under his wing to get him ready for the role. This involves plenty of gym time, and Schwarzenegger shared an awesome photo of himself taking Luna through the workout.
The plot details of Terminator 6 are been largely kept under wraps, but the movie has been making various casting announcements. In addition to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprising their classic roles as the Terminator and Sarah Connor, respectively, Natalia Reyes, Mackenzie Davis, and Gabriel Luna have been cast in all-new roles. Luna will be a new version of the Terminator sent back in time to, well, terminate. And there’s no better man to turn to for advice in that category than Schwarzenegger.
Arnold Schwarzenegger knows two things really well: being the Terminator and working out. These skills often go hand in hand, and Schwarzenegger recently shared a picture of himself and Gabriel Luna on Twitter. The photo found Schwarzenegger coaching Luna through a work out session, which must be a pretty awesome experience for Luna. How often can someone say they lifted with Schwarzenegger? Being a former Mr. Universe, Schwarzenegger knows a lot about how to get buff.
Of course, the mentorship likely extends beyond the gym. Schwarzenegger first starred in The Terminator in 1984, a role which brought him national recognition and helped launch his career. The actor went on to reprise it three more times. He’s a Terminator expert, and the hope is that Luna will help carry the franchise into the future. So it’s a good thing that he has Schwarzenegger in his corner.
As far as plot goes, very little details have been revealed about Terminator 6. We know that the film will take place in Mexico City, and centers on Natalia Reyes’ Dani Ramos, who finds herself the target of Gabriel Luna’s Terminator. How Sarah Connor and Schwarzenegger’s Terminator factor into the mix is still unknown. The movie will be directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller with series creator James Cameron on board as a producer.
Terminator 6 is set to be released on November 22, 2019.
