Full of Yourself

A Partial Rewrite of Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated”

Pixabay.com

A little cheesy, maybe, but I had fun with it. 😃

Wake up, what you sleeping for

Put down your phone for something more

’Cause if you could only look at me

You would see

I like you with all your scars

When you’re showing me your heart

And we’re sharing our thoughts one-on-one

But you’ve become

Full of yourself, like everyone else

You’re taking those pics

To feel like you’re slick

You think it looks cool

It’s juvenile drool to me.

Tell me

Why do you have to boast and make yourself so inflated?

I see the way you’re hopelessly in love with yourself

Gets me deflated.

Life’s like this, you

You snap, and you chat, and you yack

And you stack what you get and you turn it into modesty

You tell me that you’re not a selfie addict

No, no, no

You text me so you can pounce

On my innocence, and trounce

Me for my behaviors you don’t like

You call me childlike

I smile, as you lecture me

On who you think I should be

And you’re unaware that all can see

Who’s really three.

Full of yourself, like everyone else

You’re taking those pics

So you can look sick

You think you look cool

It’s juvenile drool to me.

Really

Why do you have to boast and make yourself so inflated?

I see the way you’re hopelessly in love with yourself

Gets me frustrated.

Life’s like this, you

You snap, and you chat, and you yack

And you stack what you get and you turn it into modesty

Assuring me you’re not a selfie addict

No, no, no

Thanks for reading! 😉
