We are now in a position where we must chose: Psephocracy or Autocracy.
What used to be the USA is divided. The reason I say “what used to be the USA” is because in 2018 we cannot claim to be the country our founding fathers envisioned for us. However, our division is not as it seems or as some people would like to make us believe. We are not divide as political parties except in the reality that the two major parties representing our country have become polarized. We are no longer bound by the Constitution or the Rule of Law. I have not always been a full supporter of “the rule of law” especially when people are harmed by the interpretation of that rule of law. But largely I have followed it throughout my lifetime with a short foray into illegal drugs from age 27 to 35. Nor am I a “religious” person as I believe all religion is male dominated and marginalizes the feminine in all of us.
Before we move on from here, a few definitions from our history are necessary.
Democracy: “A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state (or Country), typically through elected representatives. Representative democracy (also called indirect democracy, representative republic or Psephocracy) is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy. A form of government where the powers of the sovereignty are delegated to a body of men, elected from time to time, who exercise them for the benefit of the whole nation. A government by ballot-elected representatives.” WJP
Rule of Law: “The restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws; the principle that all people and institutions are subject to and accountable to law that is fairly applied and enforced; the principle of government by law. The rule of law requires four active concepts. 1) Accountability The government as well as private citizens are accountable under the law. 2) Just Laws The laws are clear, publicized, stable, and just; are applied evenly; and protect fundamental rights, including the security of persons and property and certain core human rights. 3) Open Government The processes by which the laws are enacted, administered, and enforced are accessible, fair, and efficient. 4) Accessible & Impartial Dispute Resolution Justice is delivered timely by competent, ethical, and independent representatives and neutrals who are accessible, have adequate resources, and reflect the makeup of the communities they serve.” Legal Dictionary
Lawlessness: “Actions in defiance of the law, criminal anarchy, disreputable conduct, felonious conduct, havoc, illegal conduct, insidious behavior, insubordination to the rule of law, irresponsible conduct, lawbreaking activity, mutinous conduct, outlawed conduct, rebellious conduct, recalcitrant conduct, revolutionary conduct, riotous behavior, seditious activity, subversive actions, uncontrolled actions, ungovernable actions, far-reaching miscreant conduct, untoward behavior, unwarrantable behavior.” Legal Dictionary
Autocracy: “A government where a monarch is unlimited by law. Such was the power of the emperor of Russia, who, following the example of his predecessors, calls himself the autocrat of all Russia. Though Russia was ruled by Autocracy from 1721 to 1917, it experienced a brief period of unrest when the Bolsheviks (the majority faction of the Russian Social Democratic Party which seized power in the October Revolution of 1917) created the “Communist Party” of Russia which was dissolved on 29 August 1991 on Soviet territory soon after a failed coup d’état (a revolution is an uprising of the masses, and a coup d’état is conducted by military forces. Revolutions involve fundamental change, and a coup results in change of leadership) and was completely abolished on November 6, 1991 on Russian territory. According to the 1991 amendment to the 1978 Russian Constitution, the President of Russia was the head of the executive branch and headed the Council of Ministers of Russia. 1993 was a political stand-off between the Russian president Boris Yeltsin and the Russian parliament that was resolved by using military force. The relations between the president and the parliament had been deteriorating for some time. The constitutional crisis reached a tipping point on September 21, 1993, when President Yeltsin aimed to dissolve the country’s legislature (the Congress of People’s Deputies and its Supreme Soviet), although the president did not have the power to dissolve the parliament according to the constitution. Yeltsin used the results of the referendum of April 1993 to justify his actions. In response, the parliament declared that the president’s decision was null and void, impeached Yeltsin and proclaimed vice president Aleksandr Rutskoy. On 9 August 1999, Putin was appointed one of three First Deputy Prime Ministers, and later on that day was appointed acting Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation by President Yeltsin. Yeltsin also announced that he wanted to see Putin as his successor.” Legal Dictionary and Wikipedia
A small faction of our population, one who complained of being ignored, not heard and whose beliefs and ethics were challenged (by their report) have come to the conclusion that Russia has the type of government they desire, highly conservative, largely based on literal interpretations of “The King James Version (KJV), also known as the King James Bible(KJB) or simply the Authorized Version (AV), an English translation of the “Christian” Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611.” Wikipedia. this interpretation makes deviant other religions and many life choices supported by more liberal-thinking people.
Now, on with my thought: In the World population at large, the common man tends to be more liberal or “choice-based,” (in fact, most people who consider themselves Christian are more liberal-leaning) despite The Heritage Foundation’s attempt to tell us otherwise. When choices are removed from our discourse and agenda and policies are forced upon us, the more liberal-leaning population comes out in droves to carry out a Revolution. Liberal-Leaning people tend to be quiet and apolitical as long as they believe their political representatives are able to “fight” for their choices. This is why a misunderstanding has emerged that conservatism has a larger following.
Starting about forty years ago (1980), the “Religious Right” who were “marginalized” according to their perception began to “fight back against the more liberal policies that had emerged in our history.” The rhetoric goes “we do not want to pay for or provide services for people who don’t follow our belief system.” Therefore, they could justify taking legal action to refuse to back a cake for a gay couple’s wedding and refuse to provide abortion services for medical purposes. They also began a concerted effort to stack the Federal and local courts and governments with more conservative people. The above examples of their perceived marginalization are just two of the most dramatic examples of the manner in which they impose their “Christian” beliefs onto what used to be The USA. The strategy they developed was far-reaching and intense. They developed media outlets (Murdock, an Australian and Ailes, an American at Fox News and The Equirer) (Breitbart (d.2012), Bannon and Yiannopoulos at Breitbart) and Religious Right Activist Groups like The Heritage Foundation, Citizens United and Alt-Right Talk Show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones who could spread their perception of reality. I now call these State Propaganda Pushers because often they are “reporting” on non-factual issues, elevating rhetoric to hysterical levels, re-litigating old “crimes” on public broadcasting and dividing our population by disseminating misinformation. Why the FCC has not done more to reign this in over the years is a mystery as well. It probably has to do with Power and Money in our government.
In that period of time what used to be The USA has experienced Ronald Reagan (1981–1989) and George Bush (1981–1989) 41; George Bush (1989–1993) and Dan Quayle (1989–1993) 42; Bill Clinton (1993–2001) and Al Gore (1993–2001)43; George W. Bush (2001–2009) and Dick Cheney (2001–2009) 44; Barack Obama (2009–2017)Joe Biden (2009–2017) 45; and now Donald Trump (2017- )Mike Pence (2017- ). Power has only shifted to more liberal-leaning leaders twice in that time largely due to the efforts of the “Religious Right” to manage and control elections. Both times this happened, the effort to discredit and criminalize the behaviors of the more liberal-leaning people has intensified dramatically. Often and up to now, “investigations” into previously litigated “crimes” are brought to the forefront again and again, pushed on State TV Networks claiming the investigations must have been corrupt because they were held with a liberal-leaning administration. Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton and other liberal-leaning leaders have been viciously libeled and slandered in the State Propaganda Media and through the judicial and legislative branches of government. Why they have not filed law suites is a mystery. The Statute of Limitation on Libel and Slander law is two years. It is still not too late. According to more a liberal faith leader, “we have sat out of politics because of the constitution’s First Amendment which requests a separation between Church and State, but not anymore.” (Rev. William Barber).
Needless to say, my stomach has been churning for thirty years. As a Virgo born near the Leo cusp (conservatives would call me a snowflake about this part of my post, and I am good with that, Big Snowflake, and is she ever beautiful and complex)
I am Loyal, analytical, kind, hardworking, practical. I love Animals, healthy food, books, nature, cleanliness. I dislike Rudeness, asking for help, taking center stage. The Leo influence is I am in relations Warmly, I am action-oriented and driven by the desire to be loved and admired and I have an air royalty about me. I am big-heartened and generous with my love but because I am primarily a Virgo, I worry and can be somewhat critical. I am always trying to reign these qualities in and turn toward my loving Self. But, this experience has stimulated my RAGE. My anger at times has been elevate to fury, then I get tired and have to pull in, recover and get unstressed. The pace of assaults on my basic loving nature is break-neck. I am committed to not burdening myself with resentment and hatred as that only hurts me. But I have had need to express my rage at times. I do that on twitter. I try to be kind, not using the same tactics that are being used on us by Alt-Right, Putin and Trump on a daily basis, but sometimes I forget who I am. I use the information I wrote in “Stress Part I: Two Cultures” to recover from my rage so that it never becomes hatred.
The Religious Right interprets the constitution differently from liberal-leaning people. It appears they believe that our Founding Fathers were attempting to protect Conservative Christianity when they wrote the constitution rather than allowing citizens of what used to be the USA to practice their own personal religion in their own personal manner regardless of religion. It appears they believe that other religions have “taken advantage of the Constitution.” “From the beginning, courts in the United States have struggled to find a balance between the religious liberty of believers, who often claim the right to be excused or “exempted” from laws that interfere with their religious practices, and the interests of society reflected in those very laws. Early state court decisions went both ways on this central question.” The Constitution Center. I used to think Conservatives were more concerned about the society, but I have changed my mind. Alt-right Conservatives are more concerned about their individual beliefs and do not like it when others ask them to compromise. When I hear a conservative pundit on the news say “I agree with the Trump Administrations policies but I don’t like the way they are being carried out,” I think to myself there is not difference between the policies and the manner in which they are being carried out. My word for this is “draconian.” Trump tried to use this word once in a tweet but he used in improperly. I told him so in a reply tweet.
We began talking about Russia above, let’s continue that now. In Russia, there is a STATE Religion (Russian Orthodox Christianity which is described as of or being the auto-cephalic Eastern Orthodox Church of Russia headed by the Patriarch of Moscow and using an Old Church Slavonic liturgy or one of its autonomous 20th century branches chiefly outside Russia. The Conservative “Christians” want that same thing in what used to be the United States of America and have been pushing for that for the last forty years. It was not until the illegitimate election of Donald J. Trump that more liberal-leaning citizens became alarmed about the direction of our country. This is unfortunate and largely a result of the dis-information campaign that was ignored by our citizens for forty years. It was couched as a “disagreement in beliefs,” or a division between political parties by the Alt Right Media. This propaganda dissemination allowed the Alt-right to create a “alternate reality,” or “alternate facts” as Kelly Anne Conway, a spokesperson for Donald J Trump calls it, which is an authoritarian tactic which often ultimately leads to autocratic rule.
Let us make certain we understand that the preparation for the election of Donald J Trump, (a corrupt and unsuccessful businessman who has never been convicted of a crime though he has been indicted many times and seems to be able to access legal representation that enables him to find a loop-hole out of a conviction) started forty years ago. The preparation for a small percentage (30–35%) of the population of what used to be the USA but is now under autocratic rule has been in progress for forty years.
Donald J Trump first attempted to meet a Russian leader in 1987 during the Reagan Administration. “As Trump recounts the conversation in his 1987 book, ‘one thing led to another, and now I’m talking about building a large luxury hotel across the street from the Kremlin.’ His plan was to build in partnership with the Soviet government.” WaPo. Also, “Trump’s first visit to Soviet Moscow in 1987 looks, with hindsight, to be part of a pattern and looks to some to have been a pattern in which Putin was cultivating a relationship with Trump for ‘at least five years’ before his stunning victory in the 2016 US presidential election.” (WaPo). It is now my belief that most Alt-right conservatives have also been cultivated by Putin by infiltrating local businesses around the Country. There is no doubt in my mind that the Republican Party and the GOP saw an opportunity to consolidate power over the last forty years in their donor relationships with wealthy businessmen in what used to be the USA becoming in their political campaigns.
(Long Paragraph, sorry) For one moment let’s talk about Citizens United, a conservative non-profit political organization. James Bopp, brought his ideas about corporations being people forward in 2008 toward the end of the Bush/Cheney Regime and was laughed out of court. But Bush/Cheney did a good job of placing conservative (and Alt Right religious) supreme court justices before they left office when Barack Obama was overwhelmingly elected in 2009. “The conservative non-profit organization Citizens United sought to air a film critical of Hillary Clinton and to advertise the film during television broadcasts shortly before the 2008 Democratic primary election in which Clinton was running for U.S. President. Federal law, however, prohibited any corporation (or labor union) from making an “electioneering communication” (defined as a broadcast ad reaching over 50,000 people in the electorate within 30 days of a primary or 60 days of an election), or making any expenditure advocating the election or defeat of a candidate at any time. The court found January 21, 2010 that these provisions of the law conflicted with the U.S. Constitution.” By the time of the mid-term election, Citizens United decisions was fully in effect and cause a dramatic turning of the legislative branch of government to Alt right conservative rule. This is when the legislative branch of government broke. From 2010 forward we have seen an increase in obstruction, a reduction in representation of more liberal beliefs and policies and a death of what used to be the USA’s representative government as 65–70% of our population loses it’s voice in government.
The Alt-right conservatives have successfully set up a scenario for the over-throw of our representative democracy in order to install an autocratic government to mandate Alt right policies in the Country. And, with the a woman running for President for the first time (Alt-right Christians have marginalizing views of women) and the election of an intelligent Black President, Barack Obama (Alt-right conservatives tend to think that black people are not as advanced as white people), the hatred the Alt-right Christians have experienced since the Civil War was ignited. They found an advocate in Wealthy citizens who believe the wealthy must be in charge of a small Federal government (kleptocracy) many of whom were funded by Russia money laundering activities and Vladimir Putin, the current and likely permanent “President” of Russia.
For a recent history of Donald J Trump’s attitude toward a brutal dictator who marginalizes and kills journalists and his critics who investigate his crimes, Brian Schatz has done a great job of documenting the meetings and actions that indicate the Donald J Trump is working on Putin’s behalf as he enacts his policies and agenda. (Mother Jones). David Ignatius does an amazing job of categorizing Donald J Trumps business dealings with Russia and Putin from 1986 forward. (WaPo). Michael Crowley has done an excellent job of documents the ties Donald J Trump and his Administration currently have with Russia and Putin. (Politico).
And yet, despite all of this “evidence” The GOP, the RNC, Donald J Trump, his Administration, his Family members, his surrogates and the Alt-right State News Media insist that Russia did not interfere in any election in what used to be the USA nor is there an “collusion” on the part of any of these players in our current Federal leadership with a “hostile foreign power.” Though conservative pundits do not see Russia as a “hostile foreign power” and say so on a daily basis, Russia has in fact declared “war” on the World liberal citizens. What used to be the USA is only the most recent example of his World Wide consolidation of autocratic rule in the World. He has assisted with the conversion of many countries to autocracy. Strobe Talbot describes Putin’s excellent in “talking like a democrat but walking like an autocrat.” This duplicity is an authoritarian tactic that comes from the “Putin’s Playbook” described well in an article by Maxim Trudolyubov, a Senior Fellow at the Kennan Institute and a Humanitarian Activist. (NewYorkTimes).
