Comedy Central will air its new special “The Fake News with Ted Nelms” on Dec. 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Ed Helms, the one-hour special will feature made-up headlines that closely resemble real news. Helms said he is “so thrilled to be returning to Comedy Central after all these years for my new special ‘The Fake News with Ted Nelms.’ Obviously there are lot of news organizations out there just making up a bunch of crap and calling it news. But unlike those others, we’re doing it better, faker, and stupider. And we’re joking.”
Fox will celebrate the holidays in a big way on Dec. 14 with the return of “Taraji’s White Hot Holidays” and the premiere of the brand new “Showtime at the Apollo: Christmas.” At 8 p.m. ET/PT Taraji P. Henson will return to host her show which will feature renditions of holiday classics performed by artists including Chaka Khan, Ciara, Faith Evans, Fergie, Jussie Smollett, Leslie Odom Jr., Salt-N-Pepa and the Ying Yang Twins. The holiday extravaganza will also feature appearances by DJ Khaled, Taye Diggs, Jay Pharoah, Method Man, Tituss Burgess and Niecy Nash, among other surprise guests and performances. Following that at 9 p.m., “Showtime at the Apollo: Christmas” will premiere. Hosted by Steve Harvey and Adrienne Houghton, the show will feature performances by Snoop Dogg & Boyz II Men, Fifth Harmony, and DMX in addition to a talent competition for up-and-coming artists.
Hulu‘s 2018 midseason programming slate will include “The Path,” which will premiere Jan. 17 , “The Looming Tower” will premiere Feb. 28, “Hard Sun” will premiere Mar. 7, and “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2 will launch in April 2018.
Subscribers to the FX+ streaming service will be able to view the first episode of “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” on Jan. 12, five days before the episode will air on FX. “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the second installment of the acclaimed, award-winning limited series, will premiere on FX on Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Geraldine Viswanathan, Jon Bass, and Karan Soni have been cast as series regulars in the new TBS show “Miracle Workers.” Viswanathan will play Eliza, who works in the Department of Prayer Response. Bass will play Sam, a shy guy who prays to God to help him with his love life. Soni will play Sanjay, God’s right-hand man.
VH1 has announced a new show “Teyana & Iman” featuring actress Teyana Taylor and Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Iman Shumpert. The show’s eight episodes will focus on the newlyweds as they raise their daughter Junie, dominate New York Fashion Week, take over the 2017 “MTV VMAs” red carpet, and spend time as a family. “Teyana & Iman” will premiere Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Univision Communications, Inc. has promoted Ignacio Meyer to senior vice president of music. Meyer will focus on driving its global strategy and developing business opportunities for UCI’s portfolio and music industry partners. In this role, he will spearhead alternative strategic business efforts for the music team and artist development in the U.S. and globally. Meyer will continue to be based in Miami and report to Jorge “Pepo” Ferradas, president of Music, UCI. Previously, Meyer was CEO at Wireless Latin Entertainment, managing partner at KONEXXION Enterprises, and director of Business Development at the Latin Recording Academy.
