Safelite AutoGlass Is ‘Disappointed In SNL’ For Parody Ad: Gothamist

This weekend, one of Saturday Night Live‘s digital shorts was a parody ad for Safelite AutoGlass, which had Beck Bennett portraying a creepy, goateed repair tech for company. In the pre-taped skit, which was closely based on the look of Safelite’s own ads, the tech keeps breaking the windshield on a family’s minivan during their 17-year-old daughter’s basketball games, in an effort to come into contact with the underage teen.

Aidy Bryant plays the mom, who eventually realizes what the tech has been doing, and Melissa Villaseñor plays her teenage daughter, who rejects the advances of the tech during their final encounter. (You can watch the full thing above.)

On Sunday, the real SafeLite Autoglass responded to the parody, tweeting out that it was hashtag not cool and that the show went “too far.” Luckily, everyone watching SNL is probably aware they are viewing a legendary sketch comedy show and not a real commercial… however, if you do try to find one of their real commercials on YouTube, you may find some real life, non-parody caught-on-tape moments featuring their techs, say, watching porn on the job.
