First of all, this story is strictly my non-partisan point of view. It is not about Democratic nor Republican politics. It is about two candidates in the Republican primary run-off election in Alabama’s U.S. Senate special election.
Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat was vacated by Jeff Sessions last February when he became the U.S. Attorney General in the Trump Administration. Doug Jones, a former U.S. Attorney in the Clinton Administration, is already elected for the Democratic nomination last month after he received more than 65% of the votes in the Democratic primary election.
Since two top candidates did not get 50% of the votes in the Republican primary election, they have to face each other in the run-off election next Tuesday, Sept 26th. Luther Strange, a former State Attorney General, is currently an incumbent senator who was appointed by then-Governor Robert Bentley to fill Sessions’ seat temporarily. The primary run-off winner will face Democratic nominee Doug Jones in the special general election on December 12th.
According to the run-off polls, Judge Roy Moore has been leading incumbent Senator Strange in the bitter race. However, in my political opinion, I would prefer Luther Strange over Roy Moore in the Republican primary run-off election for many reasons. I am deeply troubled by Roy Moore’s disruptive behaviors and unprofessionalism. I absolutely agree with Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas, who answered to a question about whether he thought Moore would be a productive member of the Republican caucus: “Look at his track record.” Judge Moore has been removed from the chief justice positions twice for:
- Refusing to remove a statue of the Ten Commandments from the state Supreme Court building in 2003
- Ignoring the U.S. Supreme Court’s recognition of same-sex marriage in 2016
When Judge Moore recklessly ignores the U.S. Supreme Court’s recognition of gay marriage, it is obvious that he is very racist and prejudicial! Although he claims to be a strong Christian, he has NO rights to judge those gay couples! He should know better that no one should judge the others, according to Matthew 7:1–2 in the Holy Bible.
I can understand why the current U.S. senators in the Republican Caucus are seriously very concerned about their dear colleague, Luther Strange, who has trailed Judge Moore in all run-off polls of the past month. Alabama’s other sitting senator, Richard Shelby, has endorsed Luther because he is the right person for this job. As it is very clear, I strongly agree with the Republican senators including John Cornyn and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky that Luther Strange is the right person for the senate seat because he is a TEAM Player!
Suppose Judge Moore prevails the general election to replace Jeff Sessions, he is obviously plotting to destroy Majority Leader McConnell and desperately gets rid of Mitch from the Senate Republican Leadership. Also, I fear that Moore appears to plot to humiliate rest of the Republican and Democratic senators into the potential embarrassments. WHOA! According to several Republican senators, Mitch is the champion on many issues including U.S. Supreme Court nomination of Neil Gorsuch. Judge Roy still can’t see how much hard Mitch has worked within the internal U.S. Senate!
Both U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have endorsed Luther Strange because they know him very well that he has worked hard as a team player on many issues. Due to the facts that Luther still trails Moore in the most recent polls of the past month, the Republican senators have urged Trump and Pence to boost Luther at his campaign events at the different times. Trump will be campagning Luther in Huntsville, Alabama tomorrow night. Pence will be appearing to campaign Luther on Monday, one day before the primary run-off election. I hope that Trump and Pence’s campaigns can boost Luther to get more votes than Moore.
It is clear that Judge Roy Moore has NO respect for anyone, especially Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell! Therefore, I hope that Luther Strange must win the Republican nomination next week before facing Democratic nominee Doug Jones in the general election. NO Thanks to the cruelest, harshest and close-mind candidate Roy Moore! YIKES!
Note: This story DOES NOT equal my endorsement but I only hope that Luther Strange DEFEATS Roy Moore to win the Republican nomination in Alabama’s U.S. Senate special election. I wish Luther the Best Luck on Tuesday! I wish Roy Moore NOTHING!
