New regulations aimed at improving security took effect in the European Union starting today, so thorough checks are possible. This is not in any way connected with the EU’s vote for visa liberalization for Ukrainians. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

“Starting today, new improved EU security regulations start acting. It means that they will work not only for citizens of Ukraine, but absolutely for everyone. This means that there may be additional checks, targeted checks, comparing data with the Schengen register, with national registries. Therefore, if it takes a minute longer for you to cross the border, do not worry. This has nothing to do with the introduction of a visa-free regime or other procedures,” Klimkin said.
