Lutsenko: Yanukovych to be tried in absentia

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said that ex-President Viktor Yanukovych will be convicted in absentia and, despite his absence at court, will have defense and other procedural possibilities.

“Viktor Yanukovych […] will stand trial in absentia. He will have defense and all procedural possibilities,” Lutsenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on March 14.

According to the prosecutor general, the prosecutor’s office handed over the relevant documents to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv.
