A woman injured in a fire in a Mansfield apartment building was taken by MedFlight to a hospital Wednesday evening, fire officials said.
She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, said Fire Captain William Burgess.
Neither the woman’s identity, nor the extent of her injuries, were identified.
Firefighters arrived at the apartment on East Street at around 4 p.m., Burgess said.
Residents were asked to avoid the area around 21 East St. for at least two hours, the town posted on Twitter at around 5 p.m.
Apartment residents were displaced and Red Cross was requested to help them find housing, Burgess said.
The cause of the fire and an estimate of damge to the bulding have not yet been determined, Burgess said.
Mutual aid was requested from Easton and Plainville, according to the town’s Twitter posts.
