It won’t all be monotonous Medicaid reimbursement panel discussions when Governor Charlie Baker travels to Washington D.C. this week. Baker will also headline a fundraiser for his reelection campaign, fetching up to $5,000 per person, on Friday morning.
Paid for by the Massachusetts Republican Party, according to an invitation obtained by the Globe, the fundraiser comes in the middle of Baker’s trip to the capital for the National Governors Association’s winter meeting.
The host committee includes a cast of lobbyists based both in Boston and Washington. Among them: Amy Carnevale, a government affairs specialist and state GOP committeewoman who advised the Trump campaign in Massachusetts; David Tamasi, a Rasky Partners managing director who chaired the Trump Victory Fund in D.C.; longtime national GOP committeeman Ron Kaufman; ML Strategies chairman Steve Tocco; Ozzie Palomo, a principal at Public Sphere who was a backer of Senator Lindsey Graham’s presidential bid; and Nate Walton, principal at Sachem Strategies.
The fundraiser will be held at the offices of the Financial Services Roundtable, a business lobbying group, one member of the host committee said.
A Baker aide said the governor’s campaign committee would reimburse the state for a portion of the travel cost, in keeping with past practice.
