Trump Woke Up Today & Went On A ‘Sweden Attack’ Online Freak Out ⋆ Epeak . Independent news and blogs

President Donald Trump is ready to explode! Trump came onto his favorite social media platform Monday morning with another scathing stab at the media.

Ironically, Donald Trump chose to regurgitate his signature cry of “FAKE NEWS” in response to the media fact checking him. At a campaign rally in Florida over the weekend, Trump made comments about an “incident” in Sweden and suggested it was due to their comparatively open immigration and refugee policies.

At the rally, he said:

‘You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden. Who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers. They’re having problems like they never thought possible.’

Moving beyond how ridiculously inarticulate that statement is, there’s fundamental issues with the message itself. There was no incident of any kind in Sweden. Hilariously, the former Prime Minister of Sweden asked the world “what [Trump] has been smoking” in response, and media outlets around the world mercilessly mocked America’s President.

Donald Trump tried to rescue himself by claiming that it was “in reference to a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden.” While it is unclear what this story discussed, official statistics show a drop in crimes since 2005. This is despite the hundreds of thousands of Syrian and Iraqi immigrants they’ve welcomed.

But, that kind of data doesn’t support Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda so instead, President Trump is sticking with his story. Monday’s tweet reads:

‘Give the public a break – The FAKE NEWS media is trying to say that large scale immigration in Sweden is working out just beautifully. NOT!’

Many prominent journalists and politicians have condemned President Trump’s never-ending, irrational war on the free media but it seems he isn’t getting the message.

Perhaps worse is that this marks yet another ally of the United States that Trump has pissed off. The official response from Sweden included confusion and probably more than a little frustration. Sweden’s U.S. embassy carefully articulated that Trump was completely wrong, noting that they “look forward to informing the U.S. administration about Swedish immigration and integration policies.”
